I decided to sell everything and move to Mexico. Apart from my electric guitar, comic collection, photobooks, favourite books and some winter clothes, that I will store in my mums attic.
- I sold the car
- I sold my mountain bike
- I sold my playstation, accessories and games
- I sold my custom home built computer, accessories and printer
- What clothes I couldn’t see, I gave away to charity.
When I set off on my trip to Mexico, I had the followings things.
My Pack List
I’m trying to keep it under 100 things.

After having a conversation with my young work colleagues recently about my upcoming trip, they seemed somewhat alarmed about the supposed lack of things I am taking with me on my journey. So I have listed all the stuff I am taking with me on my trip below.
What I take with me has to do with the fact that I now carry a lot of gear related to working online, but it also reflects what learned a lot about packing & traveling since I first hit the road in 2004, so it is a healthy combination.
I am not a travel packing guru and there are a million websites out there with packing lists already.
If anyone ever asks what you should pack, I always say: take as little as possible.I don’t need a lot of stuff and if I really need something, I buy it. It’s not that hard to find stuff overseas and people all over the world generally all need the basic needs met.
Everything I own goes into one backpack pretty much. Well, below is my packing list:
Note: There are some links in the list below for some of the things I have and use. Only buy items you need. I’m not twisting your arm.
